Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hemp?

Hemp, or industrial hemp, is defined by the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill as plants of the cannabis sativa species that contain ≤0.3% THC, meaning their extracts are non-psychoactive and legal.

Hemp is very sustainable and renewable. It can be refined into countless commercial items, including food, paper, textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, animal feed, insulation, biofuel, and more.

What’s the Difference Between Broad-Spectrum, Full-Spectrum, and Isolate?

As you navigate the CBD field and the different products available on the market, you will come across these terms which are used to describe CBD extracts. So what is the difference between them?

As we mentioned above, full-spectrum refers to CBD extracts containing all flavonoids, terpenoids, and other compounds found naturally in the hemp plant. Broad-Spectrum, on the other hand, is used to describe CBD extracts containing various, but not all, compounds found in hemp. Meanwhile, CBD isolate, as the name implies, refers to products formulated with pure CBD. These extracts contain no additional cannabinoids or other hemp compounds.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a large network of receptors and transmitters found throughout our bodies responsible for regulating numerous systems and functions. Cannabinoids are compounds that interact with ECS receptors to promote homeostasis (balance) within these systems.

What is CBD?

Hemp contains different types of cannabinoids. One of these cannabinoids found naturally in hemp is cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is known for its natural properties, as a result, thousands are turning to CBD products such as oils, gummies, topicals, and capsules as an addition to their wellness lifestyle.

Is CBD hemp oil legal? Hemp extracts are legal thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp at the federal level. The bill, also known as the 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act, removed industrial hemp from the federal list of controlled substances and categorized the plant as an agricultural commodity. As a result, hemp-derived products are now available nationwide in the form of oils, edibles, and even topicals. Does CBD get me high?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants such as hemp. However, because industrial hemp contains less than 0.3% THC, extracts obtained from hemp will not get you high. As a result, all CBD products made with extracts from hemp are completely non-psychoactive.

Products containing Delta-9 and Delta-8 THC will produce intoxicating effects in most users. Be mindful when using these products and always start slow, wait 1-2 hours before consuming more, as the effects may be delayed.

What is full-spectrum CBD hemp oil?

Whole-spectrum hemp extract contains CBD, along with numerous other cannabinoids. Also known as full-spectrum CBD, these extracts also contain flavonoids, terpenoids, and other compounds found naturally in the hemp plant.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

As opposed to hemp, the THC content in marijuana is much higher than 0.3%. For this reason, marijuana often produces psychoactive effects in users. It’s also important to note that marijuana is not legal nationwide, as is the case with industrial hemp.

What is the entourage effect?

Hemp compounds each offer benefits of their own while potentiating and enhancing the effects of the other compounds present to nurture the endocannabinoid system. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as the entourage effect.

Will I have trouble with drug tests using CBD?

If you are hesitating to try CBD, it might be because you are asking yourself one of the most common questions surrounding hemp extracts– “Does CBD show up in a drug test?”

While hemp is related to marijuana, drug tests check for high levels of THC in our blood, not CBD. So, if you’re taking CBD isolate, you have nothing to worry about. And while broad and full-spectrum extracts contain THC, most products containing these extracts (including ours) contain less than 0.3% THC– which is nowhere near enough to be detected by standard drug tests. That’s why, generally, if you are taking CBD extracted from hemp you will be in good shape.

What are the side effects of CBD Oil?

Because CBD contains no THC, CBD products generally don’t produce any undesired side effects. While not typical, CBD oil side effects may include mild drowsiness in very rare cases.

Will CBD oil interact with my current medications?

While uncommon, CBD may interact with some prescription or over the counter medications. If you are taking medications, consult with a medical professional before starting your CBD regimen.
