My name is Kyla Gavlin, RD. Allow me to introduce myself.
I’m an Asheville transplant by way of the midwest. I grew up outside of Chicago (Elmhurst) and moved to St. Louis for college. I loved the ‘lou so much that I ended up staying after undergrad for another 4 years. I attended Saint Louis University for both my undergraduate degree (B.S. Nutrition and Dietetics) and graduate degree (M.S. Nutrition and Dietetics). I completed my dietetic internship through Lenoir-Rhyne University and during that time I fell in love with the beauty of the mountains. I vowed to myself that one day I would come back. I moved here in June 2016 and now call WNC home. I recently started Crossfit and attend interval training classes regularly but I have also competed in powerlifting and was an endurance runner for many years.
I’m also the Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Educator here at Remedy Health and Wellness. Food and nutrition are two of my favorite things in life. I truly believe food is medicine and that what we chose to eat can either heal or harm us.
I’m not the food police! I love indulging in treats and follow the 90/10 rule: 90% of the time I eat nutrient dense foods such as produce and lean proteins, but 10% of the time I indulge in a treat like sweet thai chicken pizza from Brixx or brookies (brownies and cookies). I have found over the years this is the best way to eat for me. My passion is helping others discover what fuels them as individuals. We’re all different and we should be treated as such, especially when it comes to eating habits.
When I’m not working, you can find me at the gym or at home cuddling with my goldendoodle, Moony.
Our mission at Remedy is to help support you in your health and wellness journey. With that in mind, I’m here to help you become your best and most vibrant self. No matter what stage of your journey you’re in, I’m here for you.
Until next time!
